The Capacity Building Training on Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrants took place from 24th to 27th September 2024 in Sesheke District. The training convened officers from various sectors, including law enforcement Zambia Police, Drug Enforcement Commission, Department of Immigration, Department Social Welfare, Zambia Correctional Services and other key ministries. This was in order to provide participants with knowledge and tools necessary to combat human trafficking and the smuggling of migrants effectively.

Objectives
The primary aim of the training was to enhance the capacity of frontline officers to address human trafficking and smuggling of migrants, foster improved coordination and collaboration among agencies and share practical experiences and insights, particularly from Sesheke District, to improve intervention strategies..
Achievements of training:
- Trained participants on victim identification and the PEACE interviewing model.
- Explored inter-agency collaboration strategies to strengthen responses to human trafficking.
Conclusion
The four-day training provided participants with the necessary tools and knowledge to improve their roles in combating human trafficking and smuggling of migrants. By the end of the workshop, the participants were equipped with enhanced skills in victim identification, investigation, prosecution and interagency collaboration, all of which are essential in addressing the complex issues of Trafficking In Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM).
