What happens when passionate youth meet experienced changemakers? You get conversations that inspire action.

As part of our ongoing efforts to raise awareness about human trafficking, especially among young people, the Talitha Kum Zambia (TAKUZA) Youth Ambassadors recently had the exciting opportunity to sit down with the Country Director of Kids Alive Zambia, Mr. Bestone Banda for a vibrant and thought-provoking interview. This youth-led initiative is rooted in our mission to educate, advocate and support victims and survivors of human trafficking, empowering communities with knowledge to protect themselves and others from the dangers of trafficking.

During the interview, we dove into the heart of what Kids Alive Zambia is doing to protect children at risk. As a missionary organisation with over a century of global service, Kids Alive Zambia operates residential homes and community-based projects in Lusaka, Western, Eastern and Luapula Provinces, providing education, food and emotional support to vulnerable children. From offering hope to children born in prisons to advocating for a justice system that actually works for children, their mission is rooted in justice that heals.

In the conversation, the Country Director highlighted a key area of focus—supporting unaccompanied foreign children who are especially vulnerable to exploitation. Mr Banda shared real-world challenges like legal gaps, lack of awareness and poverty that traffickers continue to exploit. And with Zambia’s youthful population and growing migration patterns, the need to raise awareness and build stronger protections has never been more urgent.

This collaboration between TAKUZA and Kids Alive Zambia is a powerful reminder that no single organisation can tackle human trafficking alone. Together, TAKUZA and Kids Alive Zambia are showing what’s possible when young voices are heard, stories are shared and partnerships are built.

Through dialogue, education and community-led action, we are building a stronger, united front to protect lives and uphold dignity.
