DEFINITION OF MIGRATION AND MIGRATION POLICY
Migration is the movement of a person or group of people from one place to another. It can either be within a country’s boundaries or across borders. Meanwhile Migration policy is a government’s problem solving effort to reach a desired state of affairs with regards to migration through comprehensive and coherent interventions, anchored in regulation, including legal frameworks and delivered through program activities.

– Organ removal
– Forced labor in agricultural or mines industries
– Forced begging
– Forced marriage
MIGRATION POLICIES AND HOW THEY IMPACT ON THE WELFARE OF MIGRANTS
Zambia has several policies that aim to end human exploitation. Human trafficking and exploitation act of 2008 provides a legal framework that criminalizes human trafficking.
National action plan to combat human trafficking, this aims to protect victims and it also outlines strategies for preventing trafficking and prosecuting traffickers. The National policy on human trafficking and smuggling of migrants of 2020 is a necessary tool as it helps the country to prevent, prosecute and address emerging and existing issues of trafficking and smuggling of migrants.
The policy aims at enhancing the protection and care of victims and witnesses. Additionally, it strengthens the partnership for curbing human trafficking and smuggling of migrants. It further calls on stakeholders like TAKUZA and other line civil society organizations to collaborate efforts in addressing exploitation of humans.
The national child policy 2015, this policy aims to end child labor in Zambia by addressing issues that affect children. It also takes center stage in raising awareness on education and laws that protect children from exploitation.
The human rights policy, this protects, values and promotes respect for human rights and life. This policy promotes the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education. Basically, every human being is entitled to these rights, with discrimination or exploitation.
