MBALA TRAINING

When TAKUZA conducted a baseline survey in Mbala to determine the level of knowledge of human trafficking, it was clear that stakeholders that included the Police Service, Social Workers under the Department of Social Welfare, Immigration and Civil Society Organizations and the Judiciary needed capacity-building in the area of human trafficking. Therefore, TAKUZA from 23rd to 26th August, 2022 conducted a Human Trafficking workshop for 30 Community Animators and 17 frontline officers drawn from Immigration, Zambia Police Service, the Judiciary, Zambia National Service and Zambia Correctional Services.

The aim of the training was to empower participants with knowledge of human trafficking so that they are able to detect it and also raise awareness in communities. The stakeholders found the workshop both educative and meaningful especially that Mbala, as a border area, experiences mixed migration with a significant number of migrants from Ethiopia being vulnerable to human trafficking.
